I'm not even sure how such an app could be coded. You'd need to create a registry of fallacies, and then the app would need some way of 'reading' the context and applying one or more fallacies (or none, if not applicable).

I wonder if ChatGPT could do something like this, though.

It is a great idea. But a technical nightmare. Perhaps the new AI chat integration might help with that. There is quite a bit of subjectivity in fallacies, but perhaps AI can handle that better than humans with our biases.

I tested Chat GPT with a few of them. It's pretty good at identifying them.

Definitely a problem only advanced AI could solve. I don't think we are there yet, but very soon I imagine.

When this happens, a lot of egos, propagandists and ideologues won't like it and will invent conspiracy theories around the AI app being a servant of the information war that the NWO in unleashing on your sheeple minds, or some bs like that so that the people who need it most won't even look at it as they would be emotionally manipulated to see it as the devil serving satan or some fallacious bs like that etc.

Nothing pisses a Dunning Kruger off more than a system fact checking them, or determining that their logic is flawed. They will cry censorship and taking their 1st amendment rights away. Even though it's just a critique of their logic and isn't stopping them from saying what they want.

Whenever I harmlessly point out logical fallacies by name and lay out the logical form to people on FB, I usually get a response like this, "Sounds like some liberal bs to me" when its not even political at all. Then they just attack my person or business. I would imagine the same would happen with this app and I don't know what the solution to that would be.
